A Rhyming Dictionary Polishes - Swatches & Review

Hello lovelies! This is my 300th post! I kinda missed my 200th somewhere along the way, but I have a special post for you! A Rhyming Dictionary polishes! What better way to celebrate 300 than with glitter!

First, a teaser!

Now on to some bottle shots ...

A Rhyming Dictionary's maker, Morgan, loves the Oz books and her polishes are named after characters in the series. It's quite interesting really. Reading the section on how her polish line came to be is a fun read in itself!

The sides of the bottles, for fun, to show you what the polishes look like!

I usually like to show you what the polish looks like by itself on the nail, but honestly, I've been so busy I've turned to swatch sticks! Below is two coats of each on a swatch stick.

Now that all the business is out of the way, let's get to the fun swatches!

Shaggy Man is a gorgeous mix of green, orange, and red glitters. Per Morgan, "This is a clear base with micro-fine emerald glitter, small, medium, and large hex glitter of emerald, gold, copper, red, spring green, red squares, gold squares, and green squares. Needless to say, it’s a really lovely fall foliage look." I loved the green and red of this and layered it over Essence Wanna Be My Sunshine.

Polychrome is a gorgeous multicolor glitter that I can't even begin to describe what all is in it! According to her page, "Many kinds of glitter in this one, silver squares, turquoise holo hexes, pink holo hexes, blue hexes, small purple hexes, gold holo hexes, black little hexes, gunmetal hexes, black squares, and turquoise micro-shimmer make up this fairly crazy and awesome rainbow/mermaid tail polish...In response to the scarcity of glitter from one of my awesome bloggers, I have added some fine blue hexes and lime holo squares to the formula. Please look at the pictures that are posted here for the current formulation of the product :)" My bottle is pre-reformulation but I had no trouble with scarcity of glitter. I had a little trouble with curling glitter with the large square silver glitter, but nothing I'd take issue with. That's what top coat is for! Below is two coats over Max Factor Cool Jade.

Betsy Bobbin is a beautiful matte glitter mix filled with "Matte glitter with tiny pink, red, and salmon, medium green and blue, and large black circles." Because of the bold colors, red, green, blue, and black, I layered it over Sally Hansen White On. I loved this one. The red sprinkled over the nail nice and even, the green and blue are sparse but it adds to the effect, and the random black glitter is gorgeous. I didn't have to dig very hard for the blue, green, and black glitters.

Ozga the Rose Princess is a sheer lilac with purple flakies, or as Morgan described it, "This is a deep shade of lavender with blue, purple, and rainbow flakies in it." I layered this over Lime Crime Lavendairy, which wasn't my best decision ever. The lavender under the polish washed out the color of Ozga and hid the flakies.

Stats & Info

I'm not sure if she did this intentionally, but reading the excerpt that is found on every polish page, all of my polishes were linked together. Maybe they're all linked together, but apparently Polychrome was a Daughter of the Rainbow who was being reckless and got caught on the ground when her rainbow left her, and Betsy Bobbin spied her! Betsy happened into the Rose Garden where she was sentenced to death but Shaggy Man fell through the roof suddenly. Shaggy Man and Betsy are then on a mission to save his brother when they pick Ozga, a rose from the rose garden, who joins them on the mission to save Shaggy Man's brother. (I paraphrased here and may have gotten some details wrong, forgive me if I'm a little mixed up in my storyline!)

Neat eh? I had a really good time swatching and reading about these polishes and how they came to be. Makes me want to read the Oz books!

Do you plan on picking up any of these polishes?
